All teams must compete with their submitted roster. Any changes are to be approved by a Tournament Coordinator.
Home team wears dark jerseys. Away team wears light jerseys.
Each team will play three round robin games. All teams will play in a final game on Sunday (4th vs 3rd, 2nd vs 1st in each pool).
All games will consist of a 3 min warmup, 3 x 20 minute stop time periods*.
*If a goal difference of 7 occurs, the game will go to run time until the goal differential is less than 4,at which time it will return to stop time. 2 min penalties received during run time will be 3 min and if under 2 min is left will remain as is if the game goes to stop time, if over 2 min remains, the penalty will be reduced to 2 min.
Floods will be every 2 periods of play throughout the day.
Each team can call 1 - 30 second timeout per game.
Home team is responsible to provide someone to play music from the timekeepers box.
Please be ready to play at the start of your scheduled game time. The Tournament Coordinators reserve the right to shorten game times in order to keep within the tournament allotted schedule.
If a team is late, it will result in one goal for every 5 minutes being awarded to the opposing team. After 15 minutes, the game will be forfeited and recorded as a loss.
If a team has to forfeit for any reason, final score will be logged as 5-0. If more than half the game has been played, the score at the time of forfeiture will be the final score.
Player awards for MVP and Heart & Hustle will be selected by the players own coaches and handed out at the end of the game. After the hand shake, please have players line up on the blue lines for the presentations.
Points will be awarded in the following manner:
Win = 2 points
Tie = 1 point
Loss = 0 points
In case of a tie in total points as the end of round robin play, tie breaker rules will apply in the following order:
Head-to-Head Game Result
Lowest goals against in round robin play
Least amount of penalty minutes in round robin play
Coin Toss
Olds Minor Hockey Association supports a zero tolerance policy. Coaches and managers will be responsible for their team conduct both on and off the ice. They will ensure that their team acts in a sportsmanlike manner towards all opponents, parents, on- and off-ice officials, and arena and concession staff. Abuse of any kind will not be tolerated. The offender will be asked to leave the tournament and a letter will be sent to the association of that team. Any appropriate disciplinary action will be taken
Please bring all tournament concerns to the attention of one of the Tournament Coordinators.
On-ice referee decisions are final. Tournament Coordinators decisions are final.
Games marked with a * may start 10 min early if games are running ahead of schedule.
Each team is asked to skate hard, play clean hockey, display good sportsmanship, and have fun!!
OVERTIME RULES
If the medal games end in a tie at the end of regulation, a five-minute, 3-on-3, sudden victory overtime period shall be played. NOTE: If there is more than 20 minutes remaining in the ice allocation a five-minute 4-on-4 will preceed the 3-on-3.
At no time will a team have less than three (3) players on the ice.
Overtime Penalties
Should regulation time end and a team is on a 5-on-3 man advantage, that team shall start overtime 5-on-3. Once player strength reaches 5-on-4 or 5-on-5, at the next stoppage of play, player strength is adjusted to 4-on-3 or 3-on-3 as appropriate.
When regulation ends and teams are 4-on-4, teams will start overtime 3-on-3.
If at the end of regulation time, teams are 3-on-3, overtime start 3-on-3. Once player strength reached 4-on-4, 5-on-4, or 5-on-5, at the next stoppage player strength is adjusted to 3-on-3 or 4-on-3 as appropriate.
If a team is penalized in overtime, teams play 4-on-3. If both teams are penalized with minor penalties at the same stoppage of play (with no other penalties in effect), teams will continue to play 3-on-3.
In overtime, if a team is penalized such that a two-man advantage is called for, then the offending team will remain at three (3) skaters, while the non-offending team will be permitted five (5) skaters.
At the first stoppage of play after the two-man advantage is no longer in effect, the numerical strength of teams will revert back to 4-on-3 or 3-on-3, as appropriate.
Shootout
Should the game still be tied at the end of the five-minute sudden victory overtime, the teams will proceed to a three (3) player shootout. Hockey Canada Playing Rule 4.9 – Penalty Shot, shall govern the shootout.
The visitor team as determined by the game sheet will shoot first.
Goalkeepers shall occupy the goal closest to their Team’s players’ bench.
Eligible players from each team shall participate in the shootout and then shall proceed in such order as the Coach selects.
Each team must provide the order of the first three (3) shooters to the Official prior to the start of the shootout.
All players are eligible to participate in the shootout unless they are serving a ten minute misconduct or have been assessed a game misconduct/ejection, match or gross misconduct penalty. If a goalkeeper has been assessed a misconduct, the player designated to serve the misconduct penalty becomes ineligible for the shootout. If a misconduct is assessed to the goalkeepers during the course of the shootout, the player designated to serve the misconduct must be a player who has yet to shoot and thus becomes ineligible to shoot.
